5 Minute Healthy Activities

What are some healthy things we can do for ourselves, that don’t take much time? We are worth much, much more time, but often we hardly make any time for ourselves at all!

If you think that you only have a few minutes, here are some quick 5-minute ideas that’ll help you start on at path to finding some new, healthy activities.

  • Take a deep breath or two, focus on some deep, cleansing breaths
  • Brush your teeth
  • Do one push up, or some sit-ups
  • Stand up straight
  • Cancel out a negative thought, and replace it with a positive one
  • Eat a piece of fruit
  • Send a letter to a friend, or someone who would love to hear from you
  • Delete some junk emails
  • Drink a glass of water
  • Smile at yourself in the mirror
  • Smile at others
  • Save your change in a big jar
  • Choose a salad instead instead of fries
  • Do something kind, even say thank you more often
  • Go to bed 5 minutes earlier
  • Wake up 5 minutes earlier, to read something positive
  • Turn off the lights when you leave a room
  • Share a healthy recipe
  • Call your mother or a sibling
  • Wash your hands & moisturize them
  • Throw away old papers or magazines
  • Use a recyclable bag instead of plastic at the grocery store
  • Call a friend and set up a time to eat together
  • Start reading a book instead of watching TV
  • Hug a family member
  • Replace an unhealthy drink with a healthy tea or juice
  • Lay out your clothes for the next day
  • Put your car keys in the same place everyday
  • Take a 10 minute break
  • Eat 1 more vegetables or fruit per day
  • Do the dishes
  • Take a quick walk
  • Set out healthy snacks the night before for the next day
  • While watching TV, do some exercises during commercials

Make time for yourself

Even though our lives are incredibly busy, we can always stand to remember that you can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first, even if it’s just taking 5 minutes to participate in these healthy activities.
